What is the symbolic significance of the green light in the great gatsby?

the green light is on daisy's porch, and jay gatsby can see it from his residence. when you see a green light one would automatically think of a green traffic light. you can go. in this case the green light serves as jays last bit of hope in gaining daisy's love. the light is a signal for jays opportunity. and it foreshadows his and daisy's reunion.
